AmkonWiki is born!
Its not 100% up to speed as far as the customization that I would like to do, but, what good is aesthetics without content right?
Why Wiki?
Well, several reasons really. The whole idea came when Urbandictionary started turning down submissions we've been sending in. So I figured 'fuck, if they're not going to publish it... maybe we should'.
But, having a wiki brings about a shitload of other benefits too:
A) This wiki runs off a separate database than our Forums. So even in the unlikely event that we have another database error, the wiki should remain untouched. Which obviously is great, as our wiki should contain our 'body of work'. I remember when we were on the brink of discovering that Jimmy Hoffa was the second gunman on the grassy knoll... then the Apeci happened... now the evidence is gone...
The wiki allows us to post our stuff in one, single area... free of the forum clutter...
2)How many times have we told new members that there was a thread about that somewhere? Or that a new member should really read this groundbreaking thread from forever ago...
This puts everything into one, searchable database... again free of clutter... but it also allows us to link to other 'pages' and the likes for related content...
III)All those quick 'searches' we do... where we show how some obscure news source is owned by the devil... or that the owner of a particular company is sucking off some other company? If those results are posted in the wiki... than we only have to do it once...
Think of this as an Amkon knowledge repository... Lots of people lately have been asking what it is we do at amkon... and even though 99% of the time, we're just bullshitting and busy being a chat-forum, the 1% is what people know us for...
With the new wiki, we can put that 1% in a place free of clutter and off topic ramblings... It also gives the people who put a lot of effort into their threads a place to document their conspiracy or 'angles' on conspiracies...
Meh, don't know why I feel the need to 'sell' this to you guys... it'll either be something positive... or something that fades away...
But... there ya have it... our own Wiki.
